As a Design Engineer / Technologist, you will execute and support the design, test, manufacture and commissioning of low and medium voltage switchgear that control multiple generators which parallel to one or more utility sources. Interacts on a daily basis with internal and external customers, as well as assisting junior engineers to accomplish project milestones and budgets.
Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Understand the design philosophy of the ISO control platform and how to implement it in complex systems.
Design, test, and commission generator control systems of the highest complexity.
Develop control software development utilizing various PLC platforms.
Focus on interaction with internal and external customers.
Interpret customer specifications and drawings and apply them to the Caterpillar Switchgear design platform while considering industry regulations and requirements.
Perform technical design reviews of other engineers’ systems.
Understand Caterpillar and other types of generators including interface, controls, and limitations.
Understand in detail the applicable NEC, UL, and ANSI requirements.
Understand protective relays, their functions and proper applications.
Mentor junior level staff members in a role model position.
Detailed understanding of NEC, UL, ANSI.
Understanding of power generation and switchgear systems.
Multitask multiple project requirements and meet milestones.
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering Technology (BSEET).
Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience in the following:
Design of low and medium voltage switchgear and control multiple generators which parallel to one or more utilities.
Experience with system operations and multiple types of PLC based controls (Allen-Bradley, Modicon, Siemens, etc.) and the ability to convert from one platform to another.
Experience with NEC, UL, ANSI and other standards.

Track record of successfully managing multiple major tasks simultaneously.
Demonstrated experience in managing projects involving technical team within budgetary and schedule constraints.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Excellent business and commercial skills; including mediation and negotiation skills.
Advanced organizational skills and strong interpersonal skills.
Computer proficiency including MS Project, Word, Excel, Visio and Outlook.
