This role will be responsible to perform the engineering, configuration, installation, maintenance, and upgrade of networks, including servers, routers, switches, firewalls, remote access systems, and network management systems. Provide technical support to various departments and users with regards to LAN/MAN/WAN (local/metropolitan/wide area networks). Serve as a liaison with vendors and other third-party providers. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in computer science or engineering; may have completed an advanced degree, certification, or additional professional training. Work under general supervision with latitude for independent judgment. Consults with senior peers on projects and architectural design. Moderate skills with high level of proficiency. Typically requires four to five years of experience. Typical duties/responsibilities for engineering may include, but are not limited to the following: * Research, evaluate, and recommend networking hardware and software such as servers, routers, switches, firewalls, security appliances, storage, remote access systems, and network management systems. * Maintain, troubleshoot, and upgrade local/metropolitan/wide area networks (LAN/MAN/WAN) and all systems upon which the network depends, such as: Routers, Switches, Firewalls, Remote Access, Wireless, PKI (public key infrastructure), DNS (Domain Name System), DHCP (Domain Name System), RADIUS, TACACS, VLANs (Virtual LAN) NTP (Network Time Protocol), VRF (Variable Refrigerant Flow), IPAM (Internet Protocol address management), STP (Spanning Tree Protocol), VTP. * Install network/system and perform analysis on network/system applications. * Identify, diagnose, and resolve connection, reliability, or performance issues. * Build relationships with others in the IS community to establish trust, cohesion, awareness, and synergies. * Partner with key vendors to obtain and maintain required certifications. * Perform moderately complex engineering, implementation and maintenance tasks on the LAN and/or WAN. * Responsible for the on-going assessment and upgrade of networks. * Collect and analyze data network statistics. * Research, evaluate and recommend hardware and software. * Serve as troubleshooter on moderately complex network problems. * Serve as a liaison with vendors and other third party providers. * Develop relationships with vendors and investigate sources of equipment and services. * Review contracts and maintain close contact with existing vendors of equipment and services. * May evaluate vendor cost and quality of equipment and services. * Coordinate with vendors on the installation of hardware such as...
