Engineering Technical Leader-Electrical / Safety Job Description KCP Global Engineering Roswell, GA at Kimberly-Clark Engineering Technical Leader Electrical / Safety Requisition No. 777517 SUMMARY OF POSITION: The field of engineering involves the application of a broad range of science, physics, and engineering principles to design, manufacture, and optimize production equipment and include both hardware and software solutions for high speed manufacturing applications that include technologies such as control system theory, process and instrumentation design, motion control, machine vision, human machine interface programming, and data acquisition systems. Assignments include both staff and mill locations. This technical leader position works across disciplines and business groups to evaluate and assess design/process risk; maintain and provide application guidance of governmental safety laws and KC Safety Technical Standards. In addition, this position will provide P&E coordination for the KCP sector. COMPETENCIES: - Leadership of the DSR Committee and ownership of the Safe Project Management Process. This process includes collaboration between R&E (Engineering), Plant Operations & Engineering and Staff Manufacturing Leadership (Product Supply). Ensuring all projects review designs for overall safety and alignment to the corporate safety standards. - Maintaining and training a team of cross discipline engineers to support the Safe Project Management process implementation. This includes owning processes for assigning team roles and scheduling meetings. - Ensure project teams understand the Machinery Technical Standard requirements and are empowered to align with them. Includes participation in cross sector groups sustaining machine safety training materials and mentoring as needed for product supply systems such as the sMOC and MRA database process. - Sustains/manages the KCP specific machine safety standards, sites, training, and tools. - Machine Safety Systems Working knowledge of systems designed into manufacturing equipment to maintain human safety during operation. Understanding of regulatory and KC safety fundamentals and demonstration of application. Maintain and apply knowledge of current policies, regulations, and industrial processes. - Machinery Safety Standard (MSS) Owns the MSS for KCP and provides guidance to business teams. Ensures that designs and projects have the proper information to navigate the STS or to suggest changes to the standard. - The Safety Leader owns the application of the Variance Process. The variance process initiates a conversation and secures alignment between Projects, R&E, Plant and Product Supply for items not conforming or are new to the MSS. - The Safety Leader will maintain a working relationship with the Corporate Safety Group (GOSH) to ensure alignment to GOSH programs and policies, and timely updates to the MSS and DSR process. - Collaboration and Multi-functional Leadership Working closely with KCP global operations to support safety efforts required and/or initiated by the business teams. These activities include but are not limited to risk assessments, safety system design, MSS, training and long term safety planning. - Managing Safety Vendor Partnerships Working with Hargrove, Jacobs, Pilz, Rockwell and others to maintain beneficial partnerships to advance safety technical work for KC. - Provide technology migration strategy to address obsolescence and advancement in safety control system capabilities. - Maintain KCP work intake process to ensure that R&E work related to safety is owned, documented, tracked and executed. This process will work closely with plant and product supply. - Actively contribute towards Safety culture development.
